Jeremy Denk

A 1998 recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, Jeremy Denk also won
the 1997 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. He has given recitals
in Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.; he has made numerous
orchestral and festival appearances and been an artist-in-residence on
NPR's "Performance Today". As a chamber musician, Mr. Denk has
collaborated with several leading string quartets including the Borromeo,
Brentano, Colorado and Shanghai. A regular participant at the Marlboro
Music Festival in Vermont and on national tours, he has participated in
the Aspen, Bard, Bridgehampton, Caramoor and Spoleto (Italy) festivals,
as well as at Ravinia's Steans Institute for Young Artists and on Ravinia's
Rising Stars series. He has toured with clarinetist Richard Stoltzman
and soprano Lisa Saffer, with violinist Robin Sharp, and with composer
and violinist Mark O'Connor. His recording of Tobias Picker's Piano Concerto
No. 2, "Keys to the City," with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra
was released by Chandos. Mr. Denk received both a B.A. in chemistry from
Oberlin College and a B.M. in music from the Oberlin Conservatory, where
he studied with Joseph Schwartz. He earned a master's degree in music
from Indiana University as a pupil of Gyorgy Sebok, and a doctorate from
The Juilliard School, where he worked with Herbert Stessin. He serves
on the faculty of Indiana University's School of Music. |
