Concerts
Commonly Asked QuestionsWhat time do the concerts start? Our main series concerts in July and August are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, beginning at 8pm.How long do the concerts last? Each concert includes 3 or 4 pieces by a variety of composers, with an intermission, and lasts around 2 hours in total.Do you repeat concerts? No two concerts are the same - each evening is a unique, never-to-be-repeated performance by musicians who have been specially selected by Toby Saks to play together on that night only. What are the pre-concert recitals? At 7pm, prior to each main evening concert, we present short (30-40 minute) recitals where Festival musicians perform in solos or duos, held in the concert hall.Recital pieces are chosen by the musicians themselves and they usually introduce the works to the audience. Admission to the recitals is free. Be sure to arrive on time - we start promptly and there is no late seating once the music has begun. Can I bring children?Young children are not permitted to either our concerts or recitals, so if you want to introduce them to chamber music in a more relaxed setting, bring them to one of our Family Concerts or take part in Music Under the Stars.Do you have CDs for sale at your concerts? We have a Festival Shop with a wide variety of wonderful merchandise available for purchase before and after concerts and during intermission. Not only do we have recordings from SCMS concerts, but also the latest CD and DVD releases by our guest musicians, books for adults and children, notecards and picnicking accessories. Can I attend a rehearsal? You can attend free open rehearsals on designated days in July and August at either Lakeside School or The Overlake School. These rehearsals give a real sense of the enormous amount of artistry and cooperation that goes into each Summer Festival performance, as well as the chance to observe some good-natured bantering among the musicians.Open rehearsals make a great field trip for music teachers and their students. If you would like to be added to our open rehearsal mailing list, please contact Lisa Schachter, Development and Operations Manager, at lisa[at]seattlechambermusic[dot]org or (206) 283-8710. Are the concerts broadcast on the radio?Classical KING FM 98.1 Radio broadcasts live all 12 main series concerts from the Lakeside School and all 5 main series concerts from The Overlake School. How can I get a copy of your Season Brochure?Call (206) 283-8808 to ask us to mail you a copy of our printed Season Brochure, with details of all the concerts and an order form for tickets.Return to top of page |
