About Us

Each year, Seattle Chamber Music Society (SCMS) treats audiences to internationally renowned musicians in innovative and exciting ensemble performances of traditional, contemporary and seldom-heard chamber music repertoire.

Throughout July, the Summer Festival at Lakeside School in North Seattle presents twelve main series concerts, each preceded by a short recital for solo instrument; the Emerging Artist concert highlighting young, up-and-coming musicians; and a family concert. In 2006, SCMS presented its 25th Anniversary Season at Lakeside School.

In August 2005, SCMS expanded its Summer Festival program to the Eastside of Lake Washington, presenting five main series concerts and pre-concert recitals, and a family concert at The Overlake School in Redmond, Washington.

The Winter Festival at Benaroya Hall in downtown Seattle presents three to four main series concerts and pre-concert recitals in January as well as a family concert, and celebrated its 10th Anniversary in 2008.

In addition to its high quality performances, SCMS offers youth and adult education and outreach programs to encourage audience appreciation and understanding of chamber music. These programs are free or at a significantly reduced cost, and bring audiences of all ages in close contact with musicians and their music through informal, accessible and enjoyable formats.

You can find more information about all of our programs as you browse this site, or contact us.

Our mission is to foster the appreciation of chamber music in our region by presenting performances featuring world-class musicians in accessible and inviting formats, with an emphasis on developing a broad-based sustainable audience through education and community outreach.
